Franziska Maisel has been a research associate at Fraunhofer IZM since 2019. She earned a bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering with a focus on renewable energy from the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences and a master’s degree in technical environmental protection from the Technical University of Berlin, specializing in circular economy and recycling technology.

Her work focuses on life cycle analysis, improving material and recycling efficiency, and recovering raw materials from waste electrical and electronic equipment and used batteries. She also investigates the use of secondary raw materials in new electrical applications, particularly in batteries.
