Dr. Alethea Vanessa Zamora Gómez completed her PhD in Physics in the optical fiber group at the University of Valencia in 2010. Her PhD research included a brief stay at the Max-Planck Institute for Polymer Research in Mainz, Germany. Dr. Zamora Gómez was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Alberta, Canada, before joining Fraunhofer HHI in Berlin.
She is currently working as a Senior Scientist at Fraunhofer IZM and the Technical University of Berlin, where her research covers low-loss coupling solutions and packaging for integrated photonics and fiber-based microstructures in relation to sensing applications.
