Medical Technology: An interdisciplinary field at the intersection of medicine and engineering. Its goal is to develop technologies that improve diagnostics, therapy, and patient care. Advances in microelectronics and system integration are enabling the creation of medical devices that are increasingly smaller, more powerful, and more reliable. At Fraunhofer IZM, innovative assembly and interconnection technologies, miniaturization concepts, and integration processes are being developed for modern medical technology applications. These include, among other things, medical devices, imaging systems, implants, sensors, and digital health applications.
